DESIGN PRINCIPLES

The design of the Parker is rooted in the characteristics of the land on which it sits and in Galena’s legacy of historic preservation.

The layout of roads, pathways, and buildings respects the existing topography so that the built environment blends seamlessly into the site.

The historic Marine hospital will be adaptively reused and restored to it’s 19th century splendor.

The new architecture will use wood, stone, and glass to express the site’s rural character and showcase the views of Jo Daviess County.

The project incorporates high standards of sustainability and sensitivity for stormwater management, lighting, historic preservation, energy efficiency, and landscaping.
